Toyota Motor has once again claimed the title of the world’s best-selling automaker in 2024, delivering 10.8 million vehicles worldwide. This marks the fifth year in a row that Toyota has led the global auto industry.

However, total sales for the Toyota Group, which includes Daihatsu and Hino Motors, dropped by 3.7% compared to the previous year. This decline was mainly due to issues with certification tests in Japan, particularly affecting Daihatsu’s sales.

Volkswagen Group, Toyota’s closest competitor, remained in second place. However, its sales also fell by 2.3%, bringing the total to just over 9 million vehicles.

Toyota’s main brands, including Toyota and Lexus, experienced a slight decrease of 1.4% in overall sales. Despite this, hybrid vehicles played a major role in maintaining Toyota’s strong position. In fact, hybrid sales reached a record high, making up 40.8% of the company’s total sales.

Toyota faced some challenges in China, where the market remains highly competitive. However, its strong hybrid vehicle sales helped it stay ahead of the competition.

Despite the slight dip in sales, Toyota continues to dominate the global automotive market, proving its resilience and ability to adapt to changing industry trends. With its growing focus on hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles, Toyota remains a leader in the industry.
