Gulf Today Team

A medical team at the Neurosciences Centre of King Abdullah Medical City, part of the Makkah Health Cluster, performed a complex brain surgery on a 70-year-old Turkish woman who had suffered a cerebellar hemorrhage due to an arteriovenous malformation in a critical area of the brain.
The team intervened urgently to relieve pressure on the brain by drilling a hole in the skull and inserting a drainage tube. X-rays revealed an arteriovenous malformation, which the team treated using advanced medical techniques; there were no complications.
The patient regained consciousness and was removed from the respirator. Her health is steadily improving, and arrangements are being made to enable her to complete Hajj under full medical supervision.
