Two Pakistani female peacekeepers have been honored by the United Nations with the prestigious Gender Advocacy Award for their outstanding work in promoting gender equality in peacekeeping missions.
Major Sania Safdar and Major Komal Masood were recognized for their dedication and professionalism in advancing women’s roles in peacekeeping.
Major Sania served in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus, while Major Komal contributed to peace efforts in the Central African Republic. Their efforts played a crucial role in promoting peace and stability in these regions.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) praised both officers for their exceptional contributions, highlighting how their work reflects Pakistan’s strong commitment to the UN Peacekeeping mandate.
These awards not only recognize the efforts of these two women but also emphasize the important role that women play in global peacekeeping missions.
In addition to the recognition of the peacekeepers, earlier this month, another Pakistani woman was honored internationally. Punjab Police SSP Riffat Bukhari received the Excellence in Performance Award at the International Association of Women Police annual conference in Chicago.
This award highlights her outstanding contributions to law enforcement and showcases Pakistan’s dedication to promoting excellence in policing.
These accolades demonstrate Pakistan’s growing recognition on the global stage for the achievements of its women in peacekeeping and law enforcement, further reinforcing the country’s commitment to peace, stability, and gender equality in international missions.
