DNTV, Staff Reporter
The UAE Public Prosecution, via its account on the X platform, delineated the penalties for insulting others or attributing facts that would render one subject to punishment or contempt via an information network, information technology means, or information system.
In a statement released by the Public Prosecution, it was declared that any individual found to have insulted another person or attributed to them an act that could result in their being subjected to punishment or contempt by others, through the use of an information network, information technology means or information system, shall be liable to a penalty of imprisonment and a fine of not less than Dhs250,000 and not more than Dhs500,000. Alternatively, the individual may be subjected to one of these two penalties.
Furthermore, the prosecution stated that should one of the acts enumerated in the initial paragraph of this article be perpetrated against a public official or an individual entrusted with a public service in the context of or in connection with the performance of their duties, this shall be regarded as an aggravating circumstance for the offence.
