The United States has approved a defence support package worth 686 million dollars to upgrade Pakistan’s ageing F-16 fighter jets. This upgrade is aimed at keeping the aircraft fully operational and combat-ready until the year 2040.

The package includes modern avionics systems, secure communication equipment, spare parts, pilot training programs, and long-term maintenance support. These upgrades will allow the jets to share real-time tactical information, improve coordination during missions, and enhance overall operational performance.

Experts say this decision will help Pakistan’s air force continue to operate effectively alongside modern air forces, while also improving coordination with United States military systems. Analysts believe the move supports regional stability and strengthens cooperation between the two countries.

The deal is part of the long-standing defence relationship between the United States and Pakistan. It focuses not only on upgrading aircraft systems but also on improving pilot skills, updating technology, and ensuring reliable logistical support. Together, these measures are designed to ensure sustained performance and safety of the F-16 fleet for many years to come.
