The United States Embassy in Islamabad has cancelled all visa and American Citizen Services appointments scheduled for March 2 at its embassy and consulates across Pakistan due to ongoing protests and security concerns.

The decision was announced after demonstrations were reported near several diplomatic locations in different cities.

In a security alert issued on March 1, the U.S. mission stated that it is closely monitoring protest activities taking place outside its diplomatic facilities in Karachi and Lahore. Authorities also received information about possible demonstrations planned near the U.S.

Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate in Peshawar. Officials said the step was taken as a precaution to ensure the safety of visitors, staff members, and American citizens.

The embassy advised individuals with scheduled appointments to wait for further updates regarding rescheduling. Applicants were encouraged to regularly check official communication channels for new appointment dates and instructions.

As part of additional safety measures, the U.S. mission has directed its government personnel in Pakistan to limit non-essential movement until further notice. Security officials continue to assess the situation and remain in coordination with local authorities.

The temporary suspension of services reflects growing concerns about public safety amid ongoing protests, while diplomatic operations are expected to resume once security conditions improve across affected areas.
