NEW YORK: Wall Street stocks edged higher early Tuesday as markets digested presentations from Nvidia and other tech players at a major technology industry show and awaited key US economic data.
Shares of Nvidia rose 1.2 percent after the company’s CEO Jensen Huang unveiled new chip technology to advance artificial intelligence at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
“We’re right back on the AI trade again,” said FHN Financial’s Chris Low. “The optimism is back for now.”

About 15 minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up a hair at 48,989.96.
The broad-based S&P 500 added 0.1 percent at 6,910.08, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 0.2 percent to 23,448.38.
The Dow finished at a fresh record Monday, with analysts pointing to enthusiasm ahead of the December jobs report and other key economic releases this week.
