Residents of Dizg village in Upper Chitral have achieved something amazing. They have turned 30 acres of barren land into a thriving forest. Just three years ago, the land was dry and useless because it lacked water.
But then, the villagers installed a solar-powered irrigation system, which brought water to the land. With the help of the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, they planted saplings of willow trees, which are well-suited to the local climate.
Thanks to the hard work of community leaders like Shafiuddin, Amir Nasir, and Sher Faraz, the land has been transformed. The villagers faced many challenges, but they worked together to overcome them.
Today, the once-barren land is a lush green forest, teeming with life. This is a great example of how communities can come together to protect the environment. The people of Dizg village have shown that with determination and teamwork, anything is possible.
Their efforts will not only benefit the environment but also provide a source of income and food for the villagers. This project is a shining example of community-led environmental restoration.
