WATCH: Maya Ali’s reaction to Shakeel’s dropped catch steals spotlight

Maya, like many fans, was on her feet expecting a crucial breakthrough.

Quetta Gladiators’ brand ambassador Maya Ali was caught in a dramatic moment during the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 match against Karachi Kings on 18 April at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

A video that quickly circulated on social media showed Maya reacting with excitement when Mohammad Nabi lofted a catchable shot in the 19th over, off Sean Abbott’s bowling. Quetta captain Saud Shakeel was under the ball at mid-off and looked set to take a catch.

Maya, like many fans, was on her feet expecting a crucial breakthrough. But the mood changed in an instant as Shakeel dropped the catch, letting the ball slip through his hands.

Nabi made the most of the reprieve, hitting two big sixes off Mohammad Amir in the final over before getting out.

Maya’s reaction said it all—what began as joy quickly turned into visible frustration. Her expression echoed the feelings of Quetta fans and became a talking point online, showing just how emotionally invested ambassadors like her are in the game.
