‘We Are Not Copying You,’ Bhai Bhai Channel Reporter’s Viral Video Responds to BBC: Why Doesn’t BBC Hire Her?

A young journalist from Bhai Bhai Channel reporter has responded after confusion arose over her viral reports and the channel’s name. The debate started when viewers noticed her microphone showing the label “BBC Urdu News Punjab TV.” Soon after, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) issued a statement warning people to beware of impostors.

In a video posted online, reporter Mehrunnisa clarified that “BBC” in her channel stands for Bhai Bhai Channel. Holding the same mic, she said, “As you can see, BBC UK walay has uploaded a post on X. Their channel’s abbreviation is British Broadcasting Corporation, while ours stands for Bhai Bhai Channel. You can directly talk to us via email. We are not copying you.”

The BBC, in its Urdu statement, stressed that it has no link to “BBC Urdu News Punjab TV” or its reporter. It added that no permission has been given to use its name. “We request BBC audiences to verify any content under the BBC name only on official platforms,” it said.

After her report on the Iranian President’s visit to Lahore went viral, the Bhai Bhai Channel reporter again trended for her flood coverage from Shahdara. Wearing a life jacket on a rescue boat, she described the danger of rising water and ended with an emotional plea: “Please just pray for us guys.”

On social media, many are now asking: “Why doesn’t BBC hire her?” Others debate whether “not having a perfect Urdu accent is really a weakness.”These conversations have only added to her viral fame, keeping Mehrunnisa in the spotlight.
