Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif shared a deeply emotional moment during her address at the Clean Punjab ceremony. She spoke about a video that moved her to tears, which showed young children gently washing the dust off her picture using water from a small glass.

“Tears came to my eyes when I saw it,” she said, explaining that the emotional song ‘Maa‘ played in the background made the scene even more touching. The moment, she added, reminded her of the love and hope the people of Punjab hold for a better, cleaner future.

Dressed in the Clean Punjab workers’ uniform, Maryam Nawaz expressed pride in standing alongside the sanitation staff she called “the real heroes of Punjab.” She announced the launch of ration cards for 150,000 workers, allowing them to buy essentials worth Rs3,000 each month.

The Chief Minister praised the dedication of these workers who, she said, have worked day and night to bring her vision of a cleaner, greener Punjab to life.

Ending her speech on a heartfelt note, Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her commitment to improving the lives of those who serve the province selflessly, a gesture that resonated deeply with both workers and citizens alike.
