10 Bidder Shortlisted for Two New PSL Teams Auction, PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalized a shortlist of 10 bidders for the auction of two new teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). These bidders were selected after a detailed evaluation process, during which 12 proposals from both local and international groups were reviewed. Only those that met all the required technical and financial standards were moved to the final stage.

The auction for the new PSL franchises is set to take place on January 8, 2026, at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. This event will determine which bidders will officially own and operate the two new teams in the league.

Once the auction is completed, the successful bidders will be able to choose their team names from a list of cities approved by the PCB. These cities include Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Sialkot, offering a wide regional representation across Pakistan.

With the addition of two new teams, the PSL will expand from six franchises to eight. This will be the league’s first major structural change in the past seven years. The expansion highlights the growing popularity of the PSL and shows increasing confidence and interest from investors, both within Pakistan and from abroad.

The move is expected to create more opportunities for players, increase fan engagement, and further strengthen Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure.
