CM Punjab Launches Free Cardiac Surgery Program for Residents

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a new Cardiac Surgery Programme to provide free and timely treatment for heart patients across the province.

The goal of this initiative is to make quality healthcare accessible to everyone, especially those who cannot afford expensive heart surgeries.

The programme focuses on removing long waiting lists for open-heart surgeries. Patients who previously had to wait months for treatment will now be able to receive care much faster.

The initiative is being carried out in both public and private cardiac hospitals across Punjab, ensuring wider coverage and better access to services.

A major milestone has already been achieved, as the first successful surgery under this programme has been completed. This marks an important step forward in improving healthcare services in the province.

To support the programme, the government has allocated over Rs. 3 billion each year. This funding will help cover the cost of surgeries and ensure that patients receive life-saving treatment without financial burden.

In addition, dedicated helplines and WhatsApp support services have been introduced. These platforms will guide patients, help them register, and provide information about hospitals and treatment options.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving the healthcare system and prioritizing public welfare. By offering free and timely heart treatment, the programme aims to save lives and reduce the stress faced by patients and their families across Punjab.
