Mohammed chairs Cabinet meeting, says UAE food reserves increased by 84% in 2023

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Miniter of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday chaired UAE Cabinet at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed received high school toppers and congratulated them on their excellence.
Sheikh Mohammed thanked all those working in the educational field, led by the Education and Human Resources Council, headed by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed.
The UAE Cabinet also reviewed the preparations for the upcoming academic year in the country.
Cabinet wished success to all the graduates in their future careers. And for the rest of the students, continued success and excellence.
The UAE Cabinet also reviewed the report of the work of the Emirates Council for Food Security which shows that the UAE has raised the reserve of strategic food items in the country by 85% during the year 2023
The grain storage capacity in the country is also raised by by 34% with a special storage capacity amounting to hundreds of thousands of tonnes.
The Cabinet also reviewd number of international agreements on food systems and sustainable agriculture.
“Our goal is to ensure our food security in a sustainable manner in all circumstances and times,” said Sheikh Mohammed.
The Cabinet also reviewed report of the Emirates Research and Development Council.
It also reviewed the adoption of national priorities for research and development, the adoption of a set of global challenges programmes to finance research and development, especially research related to water desalination, and the development of an integrated strategy for intellectual property in this field.
The UAE Cabinet also approved hosting a group of specialised international events, and reviewed the results of the performance of the Emirates Investment Authority and the financial results of the Pensions and Social Security Authority.
The UAE Cabinet also wished everyone a prosperous summer vacations.
“We wish everyone an enjoyable summer vacation with their families… and our wishes for our children to exploit this holiday in a way that will bring them good and benefit and develop their skills and abilities… and our guidance to everyone is that our country will remain full of activity, vitality, and projects in summer and winter, God willing,” said Sheikh Mohammed.
