Severe flooding has caused massive destruction in Punjab, leaving at least 43 people dead and millions displaced. The disaster was triggered by heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers after water was released from Indian dams, leading to the inundation of more than 3,300 villages.

Officials report that over 3.3 million people have been directly affected by the floods. Families have lost their homes, farmlands, crops, and livestock, adding to the scale of the tragedy.

The widespread damage has created serious challenges for both rural and urban communities, who are now struggling for basic survival needs.

In response, the government has launched urgent rescue and relief operations. Boats and military teams have been deployed to evacuate stranded residents from the worst-hit areas.

Authorities are setting up temporary shelters and providing emergency supplies, including food, clean drinking water, and medical assistance, to those in need.

Efforts are also underway to assess the full extent of the damage. Special attention is being given to compensating farmers for the loss of crops and livestock, as agriculture is the backbone of Punjab’s economy. Relief packages are being prepared for families who lost their homes and belongings.

The situation remains critical as authorities continue to monitor rising water levels. With more rainfall expected, the government is urging people in vulnerable areas to move to safer locations.

This tragedy highlights the urgent need for better flood management systems and long-term planning to protect lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure in the future.
