Telenor Pakistan joined the global Telenor Group in celebrating AI Day on September 10, 2025 at its 345 Headquarters in Islamabad, reaffirming its ambition to evolve as an AI-First organization. The event brought together company leaders, employees, and industry experts to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping telecommunications, enhancing customer experiences and driving sustainable digital growth in Pakistan.

The day began with opening remarks from CEO Telenor Pakistan Fridtjof Rusten, who shared Telenor Pakistan’s vision of embedding AI into every part of the business. His address set the tone for the day, underlining the company’s belief that AI is not just a tool but a catalyst for transforming operations, services and the way people interact with technology.

A panel discussion followed where experts highlighted both opportunities and challenges of AI adoption in Pakistan. The discussion explored the role of regulation, industry collaboration and the technological readiness required to make large-scale implementation possible.

The event also connected to a live stream from Telenor Group’s headquarters in Norway that allowed participants to engage with the broader global celebration. The live session featured the announcement of winners of the Group’s AI Awards and Hackathon, recognizing innovative AI-driven solutions from across Telenor’s markets.

At the Islamabad campus, an AI Expo showcased projects developed by local teams from different divisions, providing tangible examples of how AI is already being applied to improve efficiency, streamline operations, and strengthen customer engagement. Alongside this, CPO Telenor Pakistan Areej Khan launched AI Verse, a new learning journey designed to give employees hands-on skills, international exposure and continuous growth opportunities in AI.

CMO Telenor Pakistan Ahsan Maykan emphasized the customer-first vision of AI, stating: “When we say AI for Everyone, from a brand’s perspective it means removing customers’ pain points, no waiting in lines, no delays, just seamless service that makes every interaction simpler, faster and more personalized.” He explained how initiatives like the MyTelenor App are reshaping user journeys by tailoring services around real behaviors and needs rather than assumptions.

CPO Telenor Pakistan Areej Khan shared her perspective on empowering employees: “AI is transforming the way businesses compete, innovate, and create value. At Telenor Pakistan, we are embracing this shift by becoming an AI-First organization, empowering our people to lead with data, intelligence, and innovation.” She highlighted how AI Verse and global programs through Telenor Academy are building the skills and culture necessary for sustainable adoption of AI.

CTO Telenor Pakistan Awais Vohra reflected on the broader technological impact, stating: “AI is a paradigm shift as it moves beyond a specialized tool to general purpose technology which has far-reaching impact across industries and society. We believe in ethical use of AI, that is transparent, in line with human values, and inherently secure.” He stressed that AI will be central to creating smarter, more efficient networks while ensuring data protection and user privacy remain uncompromised.

The event concluded with a strong reaffirmation of Telenor Pakistan’s commitment to innovation, people and progress. By embedding AI into its operations and culture, the company aims to not only redefine its own future but also to place Pakistan firmly on the global AI map. The celebration was more than a milestone it was a statement of intent, positioning Telenor Pakistan as a driving force for responsible AI adoption and digital transformation in the country.
