Blue Area And Jinnah Super to Get Car-Free Zones

Islamabad is planning to create special car-free zones in Blue Area and Jinnah Super Market. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to turn some parts of Blue Area into pedestrian-only streets. This includes the section from the new parking plaza to Khyber Plaza, where cars will not be allowed, making the area more walk-friendly.

To make movement easier, electric carts will be available to transport people around the car-free zones. On weekends, food stalls will be set up, making the area more lively and enjoyable for visitors.

The CDA also plans to improve the surroundings by building modern pedestrian tracks, installing benches for people to sit, placing trash bins to keep the area clean, and setting up digital screens for information and advertisements. These changes aim to make the area more attractive and comfortable for residents and visitors.

A major part of this project is the Blue Area parking plaza, which will soon be open to the public. It will have space for 950 vehicles, ensuring that people still have a convenient place to park before entering the pedestrian zone.

Additionally, the project includes efforts to improve the appearance of buildings in the area and maintain high cleanliness standards. With these changes, Islamabad aims to create a modern, clean, and pedestrian-friendly environment in one of its busiest commercial areas.

By introducing these car-free zones, the city hopes to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and encourage more people to walk and enjoy their time in Blue Area and Jinnah Super Market.
