British teen’s lungs collapse after vaping an equivalent of 400 cigarettes a week

Gulf Today Report
A British teenager’s lungs exploded due to excessive smoking of electronic cigarette. Mark Blythe, the girl’s father, said that he saw his 17-year-old daughter, Kayla, suffering from pain, and when he rushed her to the hospital, he discovered that she was suffering from a punctured lung.
The girl immediately underwent surgery during which doctors had to remove part of her lung. Excessive smoking led to the bursting of a small air blister and almost caused her to suffer a heart attack.
Her father recounted the difficult period he and his daughter went through, saying: “My daughter collapsed and turned blue while sleeping at a friend’s house early on May 11.”
He added: “I cried like a little child. The sight of her on the table tore me apart. She suffered an epileptic seizure during the operation as well. I thought I had lost my daughter. I hope everyone will stop smoking. Nothing is worth this.”
He says: “Kayla has been smoking e-cigarettes since she was 15 years old, when she saw her classmates using them at school, and she was consuming 4,000 puffs of e-cigarettes every week. This is equivalent to 57 cigarettes per day or around 400 cigarettes  a week.”
The father-of-nine, who lives in Egremont, Cumbria, said: “I’ve been to hell and back with Kayla over the last two weeks.”
As for the girl, she says: “It started to become common. All my friends were doing it. I just thought it would be harmless, and that I would be okay. I feel like everyone has the same point of view. But now I won’t go near them. The situation really scared me.”
Last November also Kayla was taken to the hospital after she was suspected of having a heart attack, which an X-ray revealed was a puncture in her lung after a blister had formed.
