Broad losses bring Sri Lankan shares down

Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Monday, dragged by losses across most sectors.

The CSE All-Share index .CSE dropped nearly 1.3% to 20,364.97. Last week, the index posted its fourth consecutive session of weekly losses.

Office Equipment Plc and Dialog Axiata Plc were the biggest drags to the CSE All-Share index, falling 18.8% and 2.4%, respectively.

Trading volume fell to 96.2 million shares from 215.2 million in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover fell to 2.37 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($7.57 million), compared with 4.39 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers in the equity market of stocks worth 168.5 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers of shares worth 2.32 billion rupees, data showed.
