The Al Ain Court of First Instance ruled that a female worker must pay a sum of Dhs130,000 to a family for whom she worked as a housemaid. She was sponsored by the family’s mother. The househelp was found guilty of stealing jewellery belonging to a family member, a mobile phone, a wallet, bank cards and a civil ID, and then fled the scene.
In the particulars, the plaintiffs’ family filed a lawsuit against the worker, seeking to compel her to pay a sum of Dhs125,000 in compensation, in addition to Dhs25,000 in damages for the harm caused and the loss of profit resulting from her misconduct.
Furthermore, they are entitled to legal interest on the aforementioned amounts at 12% per year from the date on which the defendant’s obligation arose until the date of full payment. Additionally, they are entitled to fees, expenses and attorney’s fees.
The plaintiffs asserted that the defendant was employed at the residence in question, which was owned by them and sponsored by their mother. They accused her of stealing various items belonging to one of them, including jewellery, a mobile phone, a wallet, bank cards and an ID card. It is further alleged that she then fled the scene. In addition, they affirmed that they had sustained a number of damages as a consequence of the defendant’s actions, which prompted them to file the suit with the aforementioned requests.
