Export of Agro and Food Products Soars to $8bn

In 2023-2024, Pakistan’s exports of agro and food products significantly increased, reaching $8 billion. This marks a 37% rise from the previous year’s $5.8 billion.

Several products saw notable growth. Rice exports soared to $3.8 billion, while sesame seeds reached $410 million, and maize exports hit $421 million. Meat exports also increased by 17.66%, totaling $507 million. Additionally, exports of fruits and vegetables, especially onions, experienced substantial growth.

This impressive rise in exports is due to Pakistan’s improved adherence to global standards and the opening of new markets. These factors have helped Pakistani products gain more acceptance and demand worldwide.

Zubair Motiwalla, the Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), highlighted the ongoing efforts to resolve supply chain issues and support exporters. The goal is to continue this positive trend and reach a target of $10 billion in exports for the current fiscal year.
