Fireworks Light Up KP as Sohail Afridi Named New Chief Minister

Festive celebrations filled the air across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced Sohail Afridi as the new Chief Minister of the province.

Fireworks brightened the night sky, and supporters gathered in large numbers across Peshawar, Mardan, Swat and other major cities to celebrate the leadership change. The atmosphere was full of excitement, with party workers chanting slogans, waving flags, and distributing sweets to mark the occasion.

Sohail Afridi’s nomination comes at a crucial time for the province, following the resignation of former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Gandapur stepped down in line with the directions of PTI founder Imran Khan, expressing gratitude to his team, cabinet members, and the provincial bureaucracy for their cooperation during his tenure.

He particularly appreciated their support in handling tough economic and security challenges faced by the province in recent months.

According to party insiders, Afridi’s appointment reflects PTI’s aim to bring renewed energy and focus to governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Known for his loyalty to the party and active role in provincial politics, Afridi is expected to continue PTI’s reform agenda while addressing key public concerns such as inflation, law and order, and development projects.

Supporters have called Afridi’s nomination a positive step towards stability, expressing hope that his leadership will strengthen the province’s administrative framework and improve coordination between local institutions.

The PTI leadership also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring good governance and serving the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the new chief minister’s guidance.
