Good News for Students! Punjab Extends Summer Vacations Till 31st August

Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has announced that all public and private schools across the province will now reopen on September 1, extending the summer holidays by an extra month. This decision was taken due to the ongoing severe heat and extreme weather conditions affecting the region.

Earlier, a fake notification about school closures was widely shared on social media. The Education Department has clarified that it was not official and advised parents and students to trust only verified sources for such updates.

Punjab’s schools had already started summer vacations on May 28, a few days earlier than the planned June 1 date, due to a record-breaking heatwave. The early closure and the current extension aim to ensure the health and safety of students, teachers, and school staff.

The Education Department is working to update school schedules and will issue further guidance closer to the reopening date. Officials have urged schools to stay in touch with local authorities for any additional instructions.Parents have welcomed the extension, citing concerns about their children’s health during the hot and humid weather. However, some have also expressed worries about learning gaps and syllabus completion.

This move shows that the Punjab government is taking the weather conditions seriously and prioritizing student safety. As the heatwave continues, more announcements may follow to keep the public informed and protected. Students are now expected to return to classrooms on September 1, 2025.
