Govt, Parliament to Decide on Sending Troops to Gaza, DG ISPR

Director General ISPR, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, has said that any decision about sending Pakistani troops to Gaza will only be made by the government and parliament.

Speaking to reporters in Rawalpindi, he made it clear that such a decision does not fall under the army’s authority and will be taken through proper national and political channels.

Lt Gen Sharif emphasized that the Pakistan Army remains neutral in political matters and is fully focused on its main responsibility protecting the country’s borders and ensuring national security.

He said the military’s priority is the defense and stability of Pakistan, not involvement in political debates or decisions.

He also reminded that Pakistan has always stood for peace and humanitarian support in times of global crisis. The country’s position on Palestine has been consistent Pakistan continues to support the rights of the Palestinian people and calls for an immediate end to violence in Gaza.

Lt Gen Sharif added that the army will follow the government’s guidance on any international deployment or humanitarian mission.

His statement aimed to clear any confusion about Pakistan’s possible military role in Gaza and reaffirmed that the army operates strictly under the country’s constitution and leadership.

His remarks come at a time when the humanitarian situation in Gaza is drawing global concern. By restating the army’s apolitical stance, the ISPR chief underscored the importance of unity, discipline, and constitutional process in addressing both national and international challenges.
