How to Add driving licenses to Google Wallet – Step by Step guide

Google Wallet has become a go-to solution for managing essential documents digitally. Among its many features, it now allows users to store their driving licenses securely. This means no more worrying about carrying a physical license — your digital version will be easily accessible on your smartphone.

If you’re wondering how to add your driving license to Google Wallet, here’s a straightforward guide to help you through the process.

Why Add Your Driving License to Google Wallet?

Adding your license to Google Wallet ensures you always have a backup. It’s particularly useful in emergencies, when you might forget your physical ID. Plus, the app uses advanced security features to keep your information safe, making it a reliable option for storing sensitive documents.

Step 1: Download or Update Google Wallet

First, ensure you have the latest version of the Google Wallet app installed on your Android device. You can find it on the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Open Google Wallet

Launch the app and log in using your Google account.

Step 3: Choose to Add Your License

Scroll to the bottom and tap on the “Add to Wallet” option. From the available choices, select “ID” and then choose “Driver’s License.”

Step 4: Scan Your License

Follow the on-screen instructions to scan both the front and back of your driving license. Ensure your camera captures all the details clearly.

Step 5: Verify Your Identity

To confirm it’s really you, Google may ask for additional photos. You might need to take a clear picture of your face from the front and sides. This verification step adds an extra layer of security.

Step 6: Submit and Wait

After submitting the information, Google will process the details. You’ll receive a notification once your driving license has been successfully added to your Wallet.

In addition to storing your license, Google Wallet lets you save other important documents like payment cards, boarding passes, and ID cards. The app also uses advanced encryption to ensure your data remains secure. In case your phone is lost or stolen, you can remotely remove your information for safety.

Availability

While the driving license feature is currently available in the United States, Google plans to expand it to other regions soon. Pakistan, where Google Wallet recently launched, may also see this feature in the future.

Using Google Wallet to store your driving license is a smart, secure, and convenient way to keep your important documents handy. With just a few steps, you can add your license to the app and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with digital backup.
