In a thrilling match at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, the United States pulled off a huge upset by defeating Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday. The match, filled with twists and turns, ended with a Super Over, where the co-hosts emerged victorious.

Despite their experience, Pakistan failed to capitalize on the opportunities provided by the USA. With this win, the USA moved to the top of the points table in Group A, overtaking India.

The game went down to the wire, with both teams tying the score in a nail-biting 20-over play. Pakistan set a target of 160 runs while batting first, which the US managed to match, concluding their innings at 159-3. The match was decided in the Super Over when the hosts leveled the score on the last ball of the final over.

In the Super Over, Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir took the ball, and the USA scored 18-1. In response, Pakistan could only manage 13-1, losing the match by five runs in the one-over eliminator.

Earlier in the match, Babar Azam-led Pakistan posted a 160-run target in their first T20 World Cup 2024 encounter against the United States in the 11th match of the global event. Despite a strong start, Pakistan couldn’t maintain their lead, allowing the USA to clinch a dramatic victory.

This surprising defeat marks a significant moment in the T20 World Cup 2024, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the tournament and the growing competitiveness of the teams involved.
