International Moon Day! First Human Walk on Moon on July 20th

International Moon Day was created by the UN in 2021 to remember the first time humans landed on the Moon on July 20, 1969. This special day honors the Apollo 11 mission when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the Moon while Michael Collins stayed in orbit.

Neil Armstrong’s famous words, “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” along with Aldrin’s footprint, have become iconic symbols of this incredible achievement.

This day is not only about remembering the past but also celebrating current and future efforts in lunar exploration.

International Moon Day highlights the importance of exploring the Moon and using its resources sustainably. It’s a day to reflect on how far we’ve come in space exploration and to inspire future generations to continue reaching for the stars.
