Tehran – Iran has officially announced a 40-day national mourning period following the martyrdom of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The decision was confirmed through state media, marking a historic and emotional moment for the nation.

According to officials, mourning ceremonies, special prayers, and memorial events will be organized across the country to honor the late leader. Government offices, educational institutions, and public organizations are expected to observe mourning protocols during this period.

Large numbers of citizens have gathered in major cities, including Tehran, to express grief and pay their respects.

Authorities described Ayatollah Khamenei as a key figure who played an important role in shaping Iran’s political and religious direction for many years. National leaders have called for unity and patience, urging citizens to remain peaceful during the mourning period.

Security arrangements have been strengthened to manage public gatherings and ensure stability. Meanwhile, discussions regarding future leadership processes are expected to begin under constitutional procedures as Iran enters a period of remembrance and national reflection.
