Japan Announces Teachers Training Scholarships for Pakistani Educators

The Government of Japan has announced a new round of Teachers Training Scholarships for 2026, offering Pakistani schoolteachers an opportunity to receive advanced professional training and conduct education-focused research in Japan.

The scholarship is being offered under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and is designed specifically for experienced teachers working in primary and secondary education, as well as those involved in teacher-training institutions. The programme aims to enhance teaching skills, expose participants to Japan’s education system, and promote the exchange of best educational practices.

Successful candidates will take part in an 18-month, non-degree training and research programme at selected Japanese universities. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate rather than an academic degree, as the scholarship focuses on professional development rather than formal qualifications.

As part of the programme, selected teachers will first undergo Japanese language training to help them adapt to academic life in Japan. Much of the research guidance and training is conducted in Japanese, making language preparation a key component of the scholarship.

To be eligible, applicants must have been born on or after April 2, 1991, hold a recognized university degree or teacher-training qualification, and possess at least five years of teaching experience by October 1, 2026. Eligible candidates include teachers from primary and secondary schools and teacher-training institutions, while university faculty members are excluded from applying. Applicants must also demonstrate good physical and mental health and show a willingness to live and study in a foreign environment.

The deadline for submitting applications is February 12, 2026. Interested candidates are advised to carefully review the eligibility requirements and application process before applying.

The scholarship initiative reflects Japan’s continued commitment to strengthening educational cooperation with Pakistan and supporting the professional growth of teachers through international training and academic exchange.
