Karachi Mayor Requests Rs 1500 Billion from PM for City’s Development

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab Siddiqi has urged the federal government to provide direct funding for the city’s development projects. He believes that funds allocated for Karachi should be handled by local government institutions instead of federal agencies to ensure better execution and accountability.

During a recent conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Wahab expressed optimism that the commitments made for Karachi’s progress would soon turn into concrete actions. He stressed the importance of following through on these promises to bring real improvements to the city.

The mayor highlighted that Karachi’s development requires the collective efforts of all political parties. He emphasized that teamwork is essential to address key challenges such as upgrading infrastructure, restoring pumping stations, and launching beautification projects.

Wahab also pointed out that better coordination between the federal and local governments can speed up the implementation of essential projects. He believes that empowering local authorities with direct financial support will lead to faster and more effective development work.

Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, faces numerous infrastructure problems, including traffic congestion, water shortages, and deteriorating roads. The mayor hopes that with direct federal funding, the city can see visible progress in improving public services and urban planning.

By working together and ensuring timely funding, Wahab aims to transform Karachi into a more livable and efficient city for its residents.
