Karachi Port Sees More Than 1,40% Increase in Cargo Activity
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsapp

Pakistan has witnessed a remarkable surge in port operations, as key maritime hubs across the country handle unprecedented cargo volumes amid ongoing disruptions in global shipping routes. Major ports including Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Gwadar Port have experienced a sharp rise in activity, reflecting a significant shift in regional trade dynamics.

Among them, Karachi Port has stood out, recording an extraordinary increase in transshipment operations. Reports indicate that activity has surged by nearly 1,400%, with recent weeks alone matching or even surpassing the total volumes previously handled over an entire year. This dramatic spike underscores the port’s growing efficiency and its ability to absorb increased maritime traffic.

The rapid growth has been supported by several strategic developments, including improvements in logistics infrastructure, streamlined transshipment policies, and investments linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. These enhancements have strengthened Pakistan’s capacity to facilitate regional and international trade more effectively.

This upward trend highlights Pakistan’s emerging role as a critical trade and shipping hub in the region. As global supply chains continue to evolve and reroute, the country’s ports are increasingly becoming vital gateways, positioning Pakistan as an important player in international maritime commerce.
