Over 11.9 Million Pilgrims Perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia in One Month

Saudi Arabia recorded a strong increase in the number of pilgrims last month, with more than 11.9 million people performing Umrah. The rise reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to improve services and make it easier for Muslims from around the world to visit the holy sites.

According to the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques, a total of 68.7 million worshippers and visitors visited Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid al-Nabawi in Madinah during the month. This figure shows an increase of 2.1 million compared to the previous month, indicating growing religious activity and visitor confidence.

The data also revealed that more than 1.7 million Umrah pilgrims arrived from outside Saudi Arabia. This highlights the Kingdom’s continued focus on facilitating international pilgrims by improving visa processes, transportation, accommodation, and overall crowd management. These steps are helping make religious journeys smoother and more accessible for Muslims globally.

Masjid al-Nabawi alone received around 23.1 million visitors during the month. Millions of worshippers offered prayers at Rawdah Sharifah, one of the most sacred areas in Islam, and paid their respects at the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) tomb. Authorities ensured organized entry and crowd flow to maintain safety and comfort for visitors.

These achievements are part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals, which aim to enhance the Hajj and Umrah experience while increasing the number of pilgrims each year. By investing in infrastructure, technology, and services, the Kingdom continues to improve facilities at the holy mosques.

The rising number of pilgrims reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to serving Islam’s holy sites and providing a meaningful and safe spiritual experience for worshippers from around the world.
