Pakistan, China Signed $8.5 Billion MoUs as PM Shehbaz Launches CPEC 2.0 in Beijing

Pakistan and China have entered a new chapter in their economic partnership as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially launched CPEC 2.0 during his visit to Beijing.

In this important step, both sides signed 21 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth $8.5 billion, reflecting their strong commitment to expanding cooperation.

The second phase of CPEC will now focus on modern sectors including agriculture, information technology, artificial intelligence, minerals and industrial relocation.

Unlike the first phase, which was mostly government-led, CPEC 2.0 puts more emphasis on business-to-business (B2B) investments, opening the door for private companies to play a key role in Pakistan’s development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that Pakistan’s skilled workforce and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) offer huge opportunities for Chinese businesses looking to invest.

He assured foreign investors that the government will provide fast-track facilitation and a safe working environment, especially for Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.

He also highlighted the government’s strong focus on modernizing agriculture, improving exports, and creating new industries through this partnership.

The Prime Minister stressed that CPEC 2.0 is not just about infrastructure but about reshaping Pakistan’s economy, creating jobs, and building stronger trade ties with China.

This launch marks a significant moment in the long-standing Pakistan-China friendship, showing both countries’ determination to work together for mutual progress and prosperity.

With agriculture, technology, and industry at its heart, CPEC 2.0 promises to boost Pakistan’s economy and strengthen its position in the global market.
