Pakistan is observing Youm-e-Tashakkur today (Friday) to thank the armed forces and the people of the country for their success in Operation Bunyan-e-Marsous and the battle of truth (Marka-e-Haq) against Indian aggression.
The day began with special prayers and recitation of the Holy Quran across the country, seeking peace and blessings for the nation and remembering those who sacrificed their lives for its safety.
To mark the occasion, a 31-gun salute was held in Islamabad, while 21-gun salutes took place in all provincial capitals. These gun salutes were a symbol of respect and gratitude for the armed forces and their efforts in protecting the country’s borders.
Change of guard ceremonies were also held at the mausoleums of Pakistan’s founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and national poet Allama Iqbal. These events were attended by military officials and members of the public who paid their respects.
Special meetings are also being held today with the families of martyrs to honour their sacrifices. Officials and citizens are visiting them to express their appreciation and remember the bravery of those who laid down their lives for Pakistan.
Youm-e-Tashakkur is a day to reflect on the strength and unity of the nation. It serves as a reminder of the courage and dedication shown by the armed forces and the support of the people in standing firm against external threats.
