Pakistan Railways Staff Strike Over 2.5 Years of Unpaid Allowances

Train operations across the country were disturbed after workers from the electric department of Pakistan Railways went on strike. The employees stopped work to protest against unpaid travel and medical allowances that they say have been pending for more than two years.

According to reports, the sudden strike created technical difficulties in several areas. Some railway power plants were temporarily shut down, which affected the smooth running of certain systems.

Air-conditioned coaches also faced technical problems because electric staff were not available to manage and monitor the equipment. As a result, passengers experienced inconvenience on various routes.

The protesting workers stated that they had repeatedly requested payment of their outstanding allowances but had not received a satisfactory response.

They said the strike was a last option after waiting for a long time. The employees demanded immediate payment of their dues and a clear commitment from the authorities to prevent such delays in the future.

Despite the disruption, railway officials worked to ensure that train services continued. Authorities arranged emergency technical support and alternative staff to handle essential operations. Special measures were taken to minimize delays and maintain safety standards.

Railway management expressed hope that the issue would be resolved soon through dialogue and negotiation. Passengers were advised to stay updated about schedules as efforts continued to restore normal operations fully across the railway network.
