Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that Pakistan is ready to move toward “stronger and brighter progress” after he was appointed as the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). His new position marks an important shift in Pakistan’s military structure and leadership.

The President of Pakistan approved his appointment, allowing him to serve in a dual role for the next five years. He will continue as the Chief of Army Staff while also taking responsibility as the Chief of Defence Forces. This combined role is meant to bring more coordination, better planning, and stronger unity across all branches of the armed forces.

In addition to this, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended the tenure of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu for another two years. This decision ensures continuity in the Pakistan Air Force’s leadership during a time of important strategic developments.

These leadership changes are seen as a major step toward strengthening Pakistan’s defence system. The creation of the Chief of Defence Forces role aims to improve cooperation between the Army, Air Force, and Navy. It also helps Pakistan align more closely with modern defence practices used in many other countries.

Officials believe that this new structure will support better national security planning, faster decision-making, and a more unified response to future challenges. It is also expected to enhance Pakistan’s defence diplomacy and international military cooperation.

With Field Marshal Asim Munir taking on expanded responsibilities and senior military leaders continuing in key positions, Pakistan is entering a new phase focused on stability, strategic growth, and stronger defence preparedness.
