Punjab Launches Historic Free Organ Transplant Program

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Chief Minister Transplant Program, a groundbreaking initiative that provides free organ transplants to underprivileged patients across the province. This is the first program of its kind in Pakistan, aiming to save lives by offering expensive medical procedures at no cost to those who cannot afford them.

The program covers a wide range of transplants, including liver, kidney, bone marrow, and cornea transplants. Additionally, it includes free cochlear implants for children with hearing impairments, allowing them to regain their ability to hear and improve their quality of life.

What makes this initiative even more remarkable is that the Punjab government is fully funding it. This means that financial struggles will no longer prevent people from getting life-saving treatments.

The transplants will be available at both public and private hospitals, ensuring easy access to high-quality medical care across the province.

To assist patients, a toll-free helpline (0900-90800) has been set up. This helpline will provide information about the program, guide patients through the application process, and connect them with medical professionals. The government aims to make the process as smooth and accessible as possible for those in need.

This initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to improving healthcare and supporting the underprivileged. By removing financial barriers, the Chief Minister Transplant Program gives hope to thousands of patients who otherwise would not have access to these critical procedures.

With this program, Punjab sets a new standard in public healthcare, ensuring that every citizen has the right to life-saving medical treatment, regardless of their financial background.
