LAKKI MARWAT: A woman was killed inside her house in the Dadiwala area here on Wednesday, the police said.
They said an attacker, identified as Jehanzeb Khan, barged into the house of Muslim Shah and opened fire on his sister, killing her instantly.
They said that the killer escaped the place after the murder, while the body was transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Serai Naurang, for postmortem.
Muslim Shah told the Dadiwala police in his preliminary report that the suspected killer was forcing his sister to have an illicit relationship with him. “On refusal, he shot her dead,” he said. The police have registered a case.
Streetlights’ repair demanded: Residents and civil society activists have asked the provincial government to provide funds for the repair of the out-of-order streetlights.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, they said that the streetlights installed in the centre median of the Lakki-Darra Tang Section of the Bannu-Mianwali Highway passing through the lorry adda in the city area had been lying dysfunctional for the last several months.
They said that many streetlight poles were damaged by the overloaded trucks transporting chaff/husk from Punjab to other parts of the country via Lakki Marwat.
“Around a dozen streetlights are out of order, exposing the neglect of the relevant authorities,” a civil society activist said. He said that complete darkness on the main artery and in the surrounding commercial area, as a result of faulty streetlights, had also badly affected business activities.
