Residents evacuated to safety after fire breaks out in Sharjah building

The Sharjah Civil Defence teams have successfully extinguished a fire that erupted on Sunday afternoon in a residential building in Al Majaz 2.
The building was also evacuated.
Civil Defence official said all residents were evacuated to safety.
Fire tenders arrived at the scene and quickly took control of the situation.
National ambulance staff said some residents inhaled smoke while evacuating the building and were given necessary treatment.
According to residents, fire started around 1pm.
The authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the inferno.
The police have had cordoned of the area for a while to asses the damage and safety of nearby buildings.
UAE authorities have urged residents to regularly check wiring inside their homes and asked building owners to carry out maintenances in summer months.
