Saudi Arabia Introduces New Visa Policy for Umrah Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has updated its Umrah visa policy, introducing a new rule that shortens the entry period for pilgrims.

According to reports, visitors performing Umrah will now need to enter the Kingdom within one month of their visa being issued, compared to the previous three-month window.

The decision is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader plan to simplify visa systems and better manage the rising number of pilgrims traveling to Makkah and Madinah each year.

Authorities believe the change will make the visa process more organized and help ensure smoother coordination during busy pilgrimage seasons.

Under the new policy, if a traveler does not arrive in Saudi Arabia within 30 days of the visa issuance date, their visa will automatically be canceled. This measure aims to reduce overcrowding and ensure that only active and timely travelers use their permits.

However, the duration of stay in the Kingdom will remain unchanged. Pilgrims will still be allowed to stay for up to three months once they arrive, giving them enough time to perform Umrah and visit other holy sites comfortably.

While an official start date for the new policy has not been confirmed, reports suggest it could take effect as early as next week.

The updated visa regulation reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving the pilgrimage experience through better planning and modern digital systems. It also aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative, which focuses on enhancing religious tourism and making the spiritual journey more accessible, safe, and well-organized for millions of Muslims worldwide.
