SEPRA chairman, members: BQATI lauds Sindh cabinet’s approval - Business & Finance

KARACHI: The Bin Qasim Association of Trade and Industry (BQATI) welcomes the Sindh Cabinet’s approval of the Chairman and Members of the Sindh Electric Power Regulatory Authority (SEPRA), established under the Sindh Regulation of Electric Power Services Act, 2023.

President BQATI, Shakil Ashfaq, stated that the establishment of SEPRA marks a significant milestone that will enable Sindh to effectively utilize its indigenous energy resources and further strengthen the province’s industrial base. He commended the Government of Sindh for taking this important and forward-looking step.

He noted that Sindh offers some of the most competitive power generation opportunities in Pakistan, including vast renewable energy corridors and local coal resources. With an effective regulatory framework now in place, these resources can be developed to provide reliable and competitively priced electricity to industry, enhancing overall industrial competitiveness.

Shakil Ashfaq also highlighted the strategic importance of the Bin Qasim industrial zone, which benefits from its close proximity to Port Qasim and minimal inland transportation requirements within Sindh. This advantage significantly reduces logistics costs, freight charges, and turnaround time for imports and exports, making the zone one of the most efficient and cost-effective industrial clusters in the country.

He reaffirmed BQATI’s full support to the Government of Sindh and SEPRA in advancing reliable, affordable, and growth-oriented energy solutions that will promote industrial expansion, investment, and economic development across the province.
