Sindh to Face Pre-Monsoon System from Today

A shift in weather is on the way for Sindh, as the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted the arrival of a pre-monsoon system beginning today. After days of scorching temperatures, parts of eastern Sindh may soon see rain and gusty winds.

Friday remained extremely hot and dry across the province, but changes are expected to begin from Saturday. Areas like Tharparkar and Umarkot could experience isolated showers with strong winds and thunder. By Sunday, Ghotki, Sukkur, Jacobabad and surrounding towns may also receive rainfall, giving some relief from the heat.

Meanwhile, Karachi continues to face harsh weather. The sea breeze, which usually helps cool the city, is currently disrupted and may remain blocked for several days.

Meteorologists link this disruption to unusual wind patterns over India’s Gujarat region and a western system passing nearby. This combination is adding to Karachi’s already intense heat, with the real-feel temperature expected to reach between 43°C and 49°C, even if actual highs stay near 37°C to 39°C.

In other parts of the country, the situation isn’t much better. Lahore continues to suffer under a heatwave, with temperatures touching 44°C and heat intensity feeling more like 47°C. The prolonged dry weather has made conditions worse.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, temperatures have soared above normal by 6 to 7 degrees, reaching up to 44°C, while humidity remains high.

Experts believe this developing pre-monsoon activity may bring a much-needed change. However, residents are advised to stay cautious as the weather continues to shift in the coming days.
