Spain Permanently Withdraws Ambassador to Isr@el Amid Ir@n Conflict
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsapp

Spain has withdrawn its ambassador to Israel in protest against the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran, as well as the continuing violence in Gaza. The decision was announced in Spain’s official state gazette and reflects Madrid’s growing diplomatic opposition to Israel’s military actions in the region. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez strongly criticized the attacks, calling them “unjustifiable” and reaffirming Spain’s position against further escalation by declaring a clear “no to the war.”

Following the move, Spain’s embassy in Tel Aviv will now be headed by a chargé d’affaires instead of a full ambassador. The step is part of Spain’s broader diplomatic response, as the government has repeatedly condemned Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and the expanding conflict involving Iran. Spain has also previously introduced a permanent arms embargo on Israel, highlighting Madrid’s firm stance against what it describes as regional aggression and its commitment to upholding international humanitarian principles and protecting civilians.
