Türkiye Offers Pakistan Joint Manufacturing and Technology Transfer in Drones and Fighter Jets

Türkiye has offered Pakistan opportunities for joint manufacturing and technology transfer in key defence sectors, including drones and fighter jets. This move reflects growing military collaboration between the two countries and a shared focus on strengthening indigenous defence capabilities.

Officials from both countries highlighted the importance of aerospace development and unmanned systems. Türkiye has expressed its commitment to helping Pakistan develop local production capabilities for advanced defence equipment. Plans reportedly include setting up combat drone assembly facilities in Pakistan, which would allow the country to produce and maintain unmanned aerial vehicles domestically.

This initiative comes amid shifting regional security challenges, where both Pakistan and Türkiye are working toward self-reliance in defence. By transferring technology and expertise, Türkiye aims to support Pakistan in achieving long-term sustainability in defence production. Experts say such cooperation can reduce dependency on imports and enhance Pakistan’s ability to respond to evolving threats.

Türkiye is already a major defence partner for Pakistan, ranking as the country’s second-largest supplier after China. Over the years, bilateral ties have included trade in fighter jets, helicopters, and other military equipment. The latest discussions build on this long-standing relationship and open new avenues for collaboration in advanced defence technology.

Analysts note that joint manufacturing and technology transfer not only strengthen defence ties but also create opportunities for skill development, research, and innovation in Pakistan.

As these initiatives progress, both countries are expected to benefit from enhanced security, technological advancement, and a deeper strategic partnership in the defence sector.
