Unemployed Pakistan’s Hockey Players to Get Govt Jobs

Pakistan’s national hockey players are finally getting the recognition and support they deserve.

The federal government has announced a special initiative to provide government jobs to unemployed members of the national hockey team, marking a significant step toward securing their futures and honoring their dedication to the sport.

This welcome decision comes on the heels of the team’s impressive performance at the Nations Cup, where they secured second place and achieved a historic milestone by qualifying for the prestigious FIH Pro Hockey League for the first time.

This qualification is a big deal for Pakistani hockey, which has struggled in recent years to reclaim its former glory as a dominant force in international competition.

But the good news doesn’t stop at job offers. Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that each player will also receive a generous cash prize of Rs. 1 million. This financial reward acknowledges their hard work, sacrifices, and the pride they’ve brought to the nation through their outstanding performance.

The announcement ceremony is expected to be attended by none other than Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself, demonstrating the government’s high-level commitment to supporting athletes who represent Pakistan on international stages. His presence underscores how seriously the leadership is taking the welfare of national sportspersons.

For years, Pakistani hockey players have struggled with financial insecurity despite their contributions to national sports. Many talented athletes have been forced to abandon the game due to lack of opportunities and financial support.

This initiative could mark a turning point, ensuring these dedicated sportsmen have stable careers beyond their playing days.
