5.0-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Pak-Afghan Border
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsapp

On Wednesday morning, a strong earthquake hit the Pak-Afghan border region, sending waves of panic among residents in Zhob and nearby areas. People rushed out of their homes and buildings as tremors shook the ground.

The earthquake had a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 65 kilometers in Afghanistan’s Hindukush mountain range. The tremors were powerful enough to be felt in different parts of the region, but fortunately, no casualties or damage to property have been reported so far.

Despite the absence of immediate destruction, locals are fearful of aftershocks, which often follow major earthquakes. Many people chose to stay outdoors for some time, worried that another tremor could strike. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines.

Earthquakes are common in this region due to its location near major fault lines. The Hindukush area, in particular, experiences frequent seismic activity. Experts warn that while some quakes pass without causing harm, stronger ones can be dangerous.

Emergency services are on alert, and officials are assessing the situation to ensure public safety. Although this earthquake did not cause any damage, it serves as a reminder of the region’s vulnerability to natural disasters. Residents are urged to stay informed and prepared for any future emergencies.
