Emirates Airline plans to open a large cargo hub at Karachi Airport to meet the rising demand for cargo services. The airline has requested 90,000 square feet of space at the airport’s cargo terminal to expand its operations.

Emirates already dominates Karachi’s cargo business, transporting more than 27,000 tons in 2024, far surpassing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), which handled only 2,000 tons during the same period. With such a strong presence, Emirates is looking to further strengthen its position in the region.

The Karachi airport authority is currently working on providing the space Emirates needs to set up this cargo hub. This expansion is expected to enhance the airline’s capacity to manage and deliver cargo efficiently, benefiting businesses relying on fast and reliable freight services.

In addition to its plans in Karachi, Emirates is also focusing on sustainability. The airline has partnered with Etihad Clean Energy to launch a solar energy project for its Engineering Centre. This initiative reflects Emirates’ commitment to using clean energy and reducing its environmental impact.

By investing in Karachi’s cargo operations and renewable energy projects, Emirates continues to demonstrate its dedication to growth and sustainability, setting an example in the aviation industry. This new cargo hub at Karachi Airport is set to further boost trade and logistics in the region.
