The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has issued a warning to motorists about potential traffic delays during the Dubai World Cup, which starts today, March 25.
The RTA has advised drivers to expect some delays on key roads, including Al Meydan St., Al Khail Road., and Dubai-Al Ain Road, between 1 pm and midnight. To avoid getting caught in traffic, drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, leave early, and consider taking alternative routes if possible.
The Dubai World Cup is a major international horse racing event held at the Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. This year, 126 horses from 12 countries will be competing for a total prize pool of $30.5 million. As a result, the event is expected to draw large crowds and significant traffic, particularly around the racecourse and on the major roads leading to it.
The RTA’s warning comes as part of its efforts to ensure the safety and convenience of all road users during the event. By providing advance notice of potential delays and advising drivers on how to plan their journeys, the RTA aims to minimize disruption and maintain the smooth flow of traffic throughout the day.
To help reduce congestion, the RTA is also working closely with event organizers to coordinate transportation arrangements, including additional buses and taxis to and from the racecourse. In addition, the authority is encouraging the use of public transport wherever possible, particularly the Dubai Metro, which offers convenient and reliable service to and from the Meydan Racecourse.
